Irene Faye Chappell White
Irene Faye White of El Reno passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, in Oklahoma City. Irene was born Dec. 27, 1915, on a farm southwest of El Reno to Steve and Pearl (Newton) Chappell. In order to attend high school, she lived in a boarding house in El Reno and graduated from El Reno High School in 1932. Irene married Clarence White on Aug. 22, 1942, in Tullahoma, Tenn., while Clarence was serving in the Army during World War II.
After military service, Clarence and Irene moved back to a farm near Banner, where they lived when their daughter, Lelah was born. They left the farm and moved to a home on the west side of El Reno in 1989 where Irene was still residing. She was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed preparing special meals for her family. One of Irene's greatest joys in life were her twin grandson, born on her 65th birthday. She also enjoyed playing cards and being with close family and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Lelah Neathery and husband, Joe of El Reno; and twin grandsons, Tommy Neathery of Oklahoma City and Chad Neathery of Yukon; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Burrel McNaught, associate pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104.
