Kenneth E. Heck, 87, passed away on July 5th in Masonic Village of Elizabethtown.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late George D. and Esther (Feichtinger) Heck.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Albright) Heck, who passed away in 2005.
Heck was a dispatcher for the Atlantic Richfield Co., retiring in 1985.
A 1943 graduate of Shillington High School, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. As a 1st Class Seaman aboard the destroyer USS Emmons, Heck saw action in both the European and Pacific theaters.
The Emmons took part in the invasions of Normandy, North Africa, and Okinawa. Heck survived the Kamikaze attack which sank the USS Emmons during its first battle in the Pacific Theater.
Heck was predeceased by his sister Fern (Heck) Kauffman and brother Frederick A. Heck.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington.
