Ms. Bondarchuk was a Stirling baby, born at Eastern Long Island Hospital on April 11, 1926, to Leonard and Katherine Vail.
She graduated from Greenport High School with the Class of 1944, and spent her life as a homemaker and a member of a numerous community organizations. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and belonged to the Custer Institute and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She served as the treasurer for the American Legion Auxiliary, Burton Potter Post No. 185, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Orient Fire Department and the Order of the Eastern Star, Sterling Chapter 216.
For 65 years, she was a member of the choir and the altar guild at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greenport.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Bondarchuk; two sons, John L., of Sinking Spring, Pa., and Dana William, of East Marion; three daughters, Laurie Leverich of Port Jefferson, Jennifer Dubreuil of Key Largo, Fla., and Cheryl, of East Marion; 12 grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard Vail Jr. of Eatonville, Wash.
Visitation was held at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport on June 21 and 22. A funeral service was conducted Saturday, June 23, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Canon Paul Wancura. Interment took place at Orient Central Cemetery.
