Leroy (Roy) Havisto died peacefully in his sleep Friday, July 6, 2012, in Minneapolis, Minn. He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in VIrginia.

Roy joined the Navy during World War II and faithfully served his country as a master mechanic on a ship in the Pacific Ocean. He was married to Lila Taylor after the war and three children were born to the union, Michael, Charlene and Hal. He also had a stepson, Denny Magnusson. He and his family lived in Virginia until 1966 when they moved to Minneapolis.

He enjoyed his career as a car salesman, car mechanic and auctioneer. He ran an automobile auction in Wisconsin for a number of years. Upon retirement he continued to work as a shuttle bus driver, enjoyed home improvement projects and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Roy is survived by his sons: Mike (Jane) Havisto and Hal (Paula) Havisto; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Myrna Magnusson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila; daughter, Charlene; stepson, Denny; and grandson, Leon Magnusson.

His ashes will be interred next to his beloved wife at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
