WEST LINN (Special) - John A Ream, 71, former city councilman and school board member, died here Tuesday of a heart seizure. He was a retired Crown Zellerbach Corp. official, having been employed for 48 years, retiring in 1954 when he held the position of personnel and safety supervisor.

Mr. Ream was born Aug. 6, 1889, in Salem and had lived in the West Linn community fo 66 years/ He was a member of the BPOE and WOW lodged and Atkinson Memorial Congregational Church, Oregon City. Mr. Ream served 20 years on the West Linn School Board and 6 years on the City Council.

Survivors include the widow, Martha; a son, Donald, Falls Church, Va.; brother Emery, Vancouver, sisters, Mrs. Nathan Wright and Mrs. L.P. Barnes, West Linn, and Mrs. Nora Thornberry, Camas, and thee grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Congregational Church, Oregon City, with Rev. Horace Bachelder in charge. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, in charge of Holman-Hankins-Rilance.
