Elouise Turner is the daughter of Verla Lorena Cozad Turner and Elmer Churchill Seiglar. She was raised by her mother and her stepfather, John Hubert Turner, and assumed his surname. Elouise married David Anderson Turner III (no relation to her stepfather), and they had three children.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Elouise Minerva Turner, 96, formerly of St. Joseph, died peacefully on June 15, 2012, at Parkview Estates in Kennewick.

Elouise Turner was born August 16, 1915, in St. Joseph, the daughter of John Hubert Turner and Verla Lorena Cozad Turner.

On September 4, 1937, she married David Anderson Turner III, in St. Joseph, and to this union three children were born.

Her husband preceded her in death on April 23, 1998.

Mrs. Turner was also preceded in death by her stepfather on September 29, 1957; her mother on January 2, 1988; her brother, George William Turner on October 26, 1987 and his wife, Newell Thomann Turner on December 6, 2003; and her beloved great-grandson, Carter Louis Turner on October 16, 2004.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Turner include one daughter, two sons and daughters-in-law. She is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Turner had been blessed with ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elouise Turner was a 1933 graduate of Central High School and a talented pianist and organist. She lived her entire life in St. Joseph, until she and her husband moved to Guadalajara, Mexico in 1965, for his employment.

They returned to St. Joseph in 1982, where she remained until 2005, when she moved to Washington to live near her son.

She was the organist at Wyatt Park Baptist Church for over 33 years, the organist at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Guadalajara for 17 years and the organist at Woodsoon Chapel Christian Church for 12 years.

While in St. Joseph, she was active in Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, District Deputy Grand Matron and Grand Organist for the State of Missouri.

She was employed at Phillips Roxanne (formerly Anchor Serum) as a payroll administrator.

After her husband's retirement, they were active as volunteers in youth programs and at Robidoux Row Museum.

Mrs. Turner was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, next to her husband, in a private graveside service.

A memorial service for Elouise Turner will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Woodson Chapel, 2525 St. Joseph Avenue.

There will be an Eastern Star service held immediately prior to the service at 10:45 a.m.
