EDWIN LULING NASH
(1884 - 1955)

Edwin L. Nash Dies Thursday Unexpectedly

Edwin Luling Nash of 628 N. Eighth St., lifelong resident of Manitowoc, and secretary and treasurer of the Lindstedt-Hoffman Co. for 31 years, died unexpectedly Thursday evening at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home. The Rev. Roland L. Schwandt of the First Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Nash, son of Atty. Edwin Gates Nash and the former Euphemia Luling, was born in this city, attended Manitowoc schools and was graduated from Lawrence College, Appleton. He was employed by the Hamilton Manufacturing Co. in Two Rivers for a time and later was the local representative of the United States Emergency Fleet Corp. in connection with the Riverview housing project in the city.

In 1920 he joined the real estate of Lindstedt Hoffman Co., becoming secretary and treasurer in 1924, an office he held at the time of his death. Like his father, for whom the local DeMolay chapter is named, he was a member of the Masonic order, with membership in the Blue Lodge, the Chapter, Commandery and the Council. Had he lived one more month he would have achieved the unusual honor of a special award for 50 years of Masonic membership. He was also a member for many years of the Kiwanis club and the Lakeside Country Club. He was a football fan,, following the fortunes of Lincoln High School athletics down through the years and also college and university games.

On Oct. 20, 1929, he married the former Hedwig Swanke. She survives with two sons, Edwin Luling Nash Jr., and Edmund Garrett Nash and a grandson.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of services.
