Discrepancy re surname: When Ron Vest created this memorial, he relied on "Info from DAR records at Johnson Co Historical Society," which listed the name (as does the tombstone) as "Larkin Albinson." The U.S. government record card for the order of the tombstone (see image) also appears to say "Larkin Albinson." But other records (see below) show the name as Larkin L. Albertson, the name now used on the memorial.

Civil War soldier: Co. F, 57th Indiana Volunteer Infantry.

Wife: Rachel Cecil Albertson. Her date of death and place of burial are unknown [but note reference in his obit, below, to her death in 1868, despite that she was listed as alive in the 1870 census], but she presumably died in the 1870's, because she was listed in the 1870 census, but he was married to a different wife in the 1880 census. And, from the fact that he is buried in the Cecil Cemetery, it's probable that she was buried in that cemetery, and that he was buried somewhere near her (but there may be no surviving grave marker for her). Does anyone have more information?

OBITUARY

L. L. ALBERTSON,
Was born in Davison county, North Carolina, October 20, 1820. Married Rachel Cecil December 15, 1843. He was a member of the M. E. church in his boyhood. He emigrated to Henry county, Indiana, in 1851, and from thence to Johnson county, Missouri, in April 1866. His wife was taken from him by death October 17, 1868. He was married a second time to Mrs. Mariah Pitser, of Johnson county December 21, 1879. He leaves a wife and five children. He had been a member of the M. E. church of Warrensburg for about eight years next preceding his death. His last sickness was protracted through several months, during which he often expressed, his resignation to the providence of God, and said he had assured hope of a better life beyond. He died in peace June 3, 1882. An appropriate funeral service was held in his memory at the M. E. church, of which he was a member, on June 5, and his body rests in the family grave yard, ten miles south of this city.
Peace be upon his memory, and consolation upon the bereaved family.
