He was born June 19, 1917, to Jesse and Victoria (Beavers) Hankins in Tazewell County, Va. Mr. Hankins worked many years as a printing pressman for Shellmar, Continental Can, Ludlow in Mount Vernon, retiring from Ludlow in 1979. Wade began attending the Owl Creek Harmony Primitive Church in 1945. His family had a long-standing relationship with the Primitive Baptist Church which goes back to the early settlers in southwestern Virginia for whom Baptist Valley in Tazewell County was named united with the church but was a firm believer in the teachings of the Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas D., John Y., Arthur C. and Prentiss; daughter, Patricia Erow; and two grandsons, Gary Lynn Erow and Scottie Hankins.
