He was born May 25, 1931, in Waverly, to the late Edmund F. and the late Anna (Vorderbruggen) Wegscheid.
Stanley served in the Army from November 1950 to November 1953.
He was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, VFW Post 10100, LaBelle Moose Lodge, and American Legion Post 130.
Stanley served as a past member of the 20th Judicial Nominating Commission, SW Florida Regional Planning Council, Port LaBelle Community Development District, and Board of Directors 1st Federal Savings & Loan; as vice chairman for the Swamp Cabbage Festival, and LaBelle Lions Club past president. He was also a member of Kiwanis, a Hendry Co. Volunteer Emergency Responder in the ‘60s, and served as LaBelle city commissioner, and chairman of the City of LaBelle Variance Board. In addition, Stanley was a Swamp Cabbage Festival grand marshall.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Jones) Wegscheid; one son, Scott (Susan) Wegscheid; one daughter, Wendy (Wesley) O'Ferrell; five brothers, Harlan (Joann) Wegscheid, Virgil (Virginia) Wegscheid, Edmund (Betty) Wegscheid, Marcel (Ella) Wegscheid, and Darril (Mary) Wegscheid; and three sisters, Cordelia Lewandoski, Sharon Dominik (Dennis Williams), and Kaleene (Thomas) Willard,
Stanley is further survived by stepsons, Jesse (Leslie) Hamric and Joey (Stephanie) Schafer; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services took place Monday, July 2 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady Queen Of Heaven Catholic Church in LaBelle, with Father Chester Domaszewicz officiating. Interment was in Fort Denaud Cemetery, LaBelle.
