At that time, they had two sons: Vernon Clifford (born June 26, 1924 in Los Angeles County; passed away June 21, 1987 in San Diego County, California) and Donald Henry (born July 21, 1926 in Los Angeles County; passed away May 16, 1976 in San Diego County, California). [It is assumed that Bessie and Carl Griffin divorced. Carl died in Los Angeles County on October 9, 1971.]
On October 5, 1937, Bessie married Frank Leslie Bridgewater in San Diego, California. Frank was born May 31, 1895 in Kidder (Caldwell County) Missouri to Minnie Bell (Gibson) and Arthur Jefferson Bridgewater. His father was a farmer when Frank was very young, but later became a baker.
On March 20, 1940, Bessie passed away in Los Angeles and was buried on the 22nd of March 1940 in the Valhalla Cemetery in North Hollywood.
Frank was married previous to Bessie to a Helen Grossheim. He and Helen divorced before his marriage to Bessie. After Bessie's death, Frank married Nola May Kiger. He is reported to be buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Los Angeles, California
Frank died July 9, 1971. Frank had no children.
