Lawrence Emil Thorson, 104, died Monday, July 16, 1990, at the Cornell Area Care Center. He was born on Sept 16, 1885, in the town of Wheaton, Chippewa County, to Dorothy (Johnson) and-John Thorson. He attended school in the town of Wheaton and 1 worked on the family farm. He moved to Eau Claire where he worked as a construction worker. He married Emma Hogan on Oct. 20, 1909, in Eau Claire. They moved to Cornell where he was a village superintendent for 17 years. He began farming in 1927 in Cornell. His wife preceded him in death 1940. He then married Aileen Snow on Oct. 21, 1953, in Cornell. He retired from farming in 1958 and entered the Cornell Care Center in 1985. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cornell. Survivors include two daughters, Viola Roth of Cornell and Eleanore Henderson of Milwaukee; one son, George 'of Tuscon, Ariz.; 35 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; three brothers; his second wife, Aileen; one daughter, Leone; and two sons, Lawrence Jr. and Lewellin. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cornell, with the Rev. James Leschensky officiating. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Borton Funeral Home, Cornell, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
