Mr. Byron B. Adams, Sr., age 80 of Fairview, formerly of Charlotte, MI, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at his home.
Byron was born on March 26, 1932 in Charlotte, Michigan to Leo and Mary (Born) Adams. He served country in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for GM at the Lansing Main Plant as a Plant Engineer. He married Patricia on July 17, 1970 in Charlotte, Michigan. Upon Byron's retirement in 1989, the couple moved to Fairview, Michigan. Byron was a tractor enthusiast; was a member of the Oscoda County Tractor Club and The Comins Eagles He had enjoyed hunting, watching boxing , and travelling. He will always be remembered for lovingly raising and providing for both his children and his step-children.
Surviving are his wife Pat of Fairview, MI; his children: Byron (Barbara) Adams, Jr. of Three Rivers, MI; Rob Adams of the State of Washington; Mark Adams of Buena Vista, AZ; and Scott (Lorrie) Adams of Treadway, TN; his step-children: Tom Shumaker; Lisa (Gilbert) Hood; and Monte Shumaker; all of Charlotte, MI, and Norma (Kevin) McCleod of Potterville, MI; 3 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David (Dawn) Adams of Charlotte, MI, and his sister Hazel Caruthers of Lakeland, FL. Byron was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Marilyn Adams; his sister Ruth Zurakowski; and his brother-in-law Bill Caruthers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 10 AM-1 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with funeral services at 1 PM with Pastor John Manning officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the service. Interment of ashes will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, Michigan.
