Will of Christian

In the name of God, Amen -- I, Christian DeLong of Lowhill Township, Lehigh County in the State of Pennsylvania, although in good health, but old and weak in strength, and reminded of the frailty of my earthly life and would now order my last will and testament.

First, I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, who gave it unto me, and my body unto the earth, consigned thereto according to the orders of my herein designated executors, and with reference to my earthly possesions wherewith God has blessed me in this like, and for which I thank him, I order and bequeath as follows: -

Item -- It is my last will and testament, that if I should die before my wife Maria, that all my possessions shall go to her for her use as long as she lives, namely, all money, cattle, household goods and whatever I leave, for her use, as she wishes it, and after her death it is my will that all the possessions that are left (upon her death) are to be sold at public auction and to be divided into four equal parts for my sons or their heirs, as follows:

Namely, one part to my deceased son Solomon's heirs; one part to my son Jacob DeLong; one part to my son Jonathan DeLong; and one part to my son John DeLong -- to them or to their heirs, to be as their part and property and so to be forever. executors my two sons, In order to fulfill and execute all this I name and appoint as my namely Jacob DeLong and Jonathan DeLong and revoke any formerly made wills and testaments.

Only this shall be my last will and testament and so remain. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal on the twenty-first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six. Witnesses: Johannes Seibert, John Weida. Proved 20 Apr 1842.
