Mr. Pivonka, prior to his recent and final illness, had always been in robust health, being a man of strong build. He was in his fifty-second year at the time of his death. About eighteen years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Pivonka came here from Stangelville where Mr. Pivonka had owned a blacksmith shop and began the saloon business besides operating a farm
of some seventy acres. In these many years, through his business, Mr. Pivonka had won a large circle of friends and to many of them the news of his death came as a complete surprise. In the death of Mr. Pivonka, the family experiences the third death within the last three years. A little less than three years ago, in October of 1918, the two oldest children, Frank and Thomas, Jr., both past twenty years of age, died within two weeks of each other—Frank in the service of his country while going across the seas, and Thomas, Jr., here at home. To the bereaved family, the community extends its sympathy as the death of the father and husband is the saddest in years.
Besides the wife, there survive
ten children. They are:
*Mrs. Anne Weys and
*Marie Pivonka, Green Bay;
*Michael, Two Rivers; and
*Edward,
*Ben,
*Emily,
*Clara,
*Lillian,
*Leo and
*Marcella, at home.
