The following piece of family history was submitted to me by Bowles descendent Ann T Martz (FAG 47048917) on July 25, 2021:
The black locust trees* were brought by my g-g-g-g grandfather Jesse Bowles, Jr. from his prior home of Paris, KY (Bourbon County) to Ursa, IL (Adams County) around 1832. I was told this by my second cousin (once removed) John Parker Talbot FAG 182236754 in 2013. Jesse Bowles was his g-g grandfather.
*The trees referred to in Ann's note are thought to be the same trees featured in the photo on this memorial. At present I do not recall the age or the provenance of the photo, but it has been on Jesse Bowles, Jr.'s memorial for some time. JMH
