Bob was born on April 19, 1933 in Manitowoc County, son of the late Leslie and Lillian (Stefl) Wenzel. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1951. Bob served our country in the United States Army building bridges in Stuttgart, Germany. On October 25, 1958, he married Shirley Heinzen in St. Nazianz. Bob farmed all of his life. He owned and operated Wenzel Brothers Dairy with his brother Harold. Bob was very active in the community. He was a Manitowoc County Board Member from 1974-2000. He was proud of the fact that in his 26 years, he only missed one meeting and that was because he had to attend another county meeting. Bob was also Chairperson of the Wisconsin Farm Progress Days in 1997, Chairman of the County Agriculture and Extension Education Committee, Chairman of Soil and Water Conservation Committee, Chairman of the County Aging Unit, was on the State and National Water Quality Committee, and was on the Valley Bank Board. He was also district president and state president of the Wisconsin Association of County Extensions, represented Wisconsin at the Goodyear Awards in Arizona, and was a life member of the Manitowoc County Expo and of the American Veterans Post 1032 of Reedsville. Even though he was so involved, Bob rarely passed up a card game or a chance to enjoy the family farm with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley, of Brillion; his two sons and two daughters-in-law: Tim and Vicky of New London and Thomas and Linda of Reedsville; six grandchildren: Andrea (Travis) Rettmann of Neenah, Aubree Wenzel of Appleton, Haley Wenzel of New London, Brittany Wenzel of Minneapolis, MN, Brock Wenzel and Bryce Wenzel of Reedsville; three great-grandchildren: Parker, Trevin and Reece; his brother and sister-in-law: Harold and Dorothy Wenzel of Brillion; two sisters-in-law and their husbands Gen (Jim) Olson of Green Bay, and Corrine (Eugene) Revolinsky of Elyria, OH; nieces: Mary and Patti: nephews, Tom, Dan and Paul; other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Louis and Leona Heinzen, an infant brother, and a nephew Mike Wenzel.
