Martin W. Freese, 78, of Arcanum, passed away Friday, July 13th, 2012 at Wayne Hospital, Greenville.

Mr. Freese was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 8, 1934, the son of the late Edmund and Kathryn M. (Wild) Freese.

Martin was a 1952 Graduate of Arcanum High School. He was a member of Castine Church of the Brethren, serving on the Finance Committee.

He was a previous member of Abbottsville United Methodist Church attending with his parents during his childhood.

Martin was a Veteran serving in the U. S. Army Combat Engineers 862nd Division during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW Post 4161 - Arcanum.

He was previously employed 15 years as a Lithographer for the former McCall Corp., Dayton.

In 1970 he started work with Lowell Rife, James Stanforth and Terry May Agencies selling Insurance and Investments. Many times Martin received industry awards; Member of the International Million Dollar Round Table, National Sales Achievement Award, and National Quality Award. Mr. Freese was a charter member of the Honor Ring Society/Indy Life retiring from the agency in 2009.

He was a former Village of Arcanum Councilman and had served as chairman of the Darke County Heart Fund.

Martin is survived by his wife Eleanor (Shahan) Freese, whom he married April 18, 1964, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Noon on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Pastor Gary Cloyd and Robert Farmer officiating.

Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery with the Greenville Honor Guard providing full military rites.
