1942: Alex and his widowed father were "relocated" to Tanforan Japanese-American WWII Internment Camp in Utah on 20 Sep 1942. This camp was later consolidated into the larger Topaz Japanese-American WWII Internment Camp near Delta, Utah. As a condition of release from the camp, Alex enlisted in the US Army and was released on 7 Dec 1942. His father (George) remained in the camp, dying (of natural causes) in Jan 1945.
