She is buried in the Aurora cemetery as Elizabeth Herring.

It seems probable that Elizabeth Geier was married first in Bavaria to a man named Hering. They had a daughter named Mary Herring who was born in Bavaria in 1828. Elizabeth married this Mr. Hering at age 14 or fifteen. Soon Mr. Hering was out of the picture and Elizabeth then married Christian Bergman and immigrated with him and her daughter to America. On October 26, 1836 in Pittsburg she gave birth to Margaret Bergman.

Her two daughters in 1844 were Margaret Bergman (Bannse) age 8 and Mary Herring (Ehlen) age 17.

The Bergman family gets mentioned indirectly again for the first time when on June 14, 1849 a Mary Herring marries William Ehlen in a double ceremony at Bethel. This information can be found in Ancestry.com under Missouri marriages. We know that this Mary is a daughter of Elizabeth Bergman because it is further stated in the Aurora Settlement records under references to the Ehlen family that William Ehlen married a daughter of Mrs. Bergman.

Mrs. Elisabeth Bergma, came to the Bethel Colony in Missouri in 1845 with two children and no means of support. She stayed with the colony in Oregon until its dissolution of March 20, 1881.

Elizabeth Bergman and Elizabeth's daughter Margaret Bergman, who married Herman at Aurora, Oregon in 1860, were in the first wagon train with William Keil in 1855.
