Woodrow W. Atkins, 83, of Seth, died Aug. 22, 2004, at Putnam General Hospital.
He was a retired coal miner from Valley Camp Coal Company, Shrewsbury, with 44 years of service. He was a member of Toney's Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Bloomingrose, W.Va., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Woodrow is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joann Atkins of Seth; sons, Woodrow W. Atkins Jr. of Chesapeake, and Larry Wayne Atkins of Delbarton; daughters, Dian Lynn Atkins and Kimberly Leah Atkins, both of Teays Valley, and Sally Medley of Canton, Texas; sister, Lorenna Midkiff of Comfort; and five grandchildren.
Service was 1 p.m. Wednesday at Toney's Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Bloomingrose, with Pastors Greg Hensley and Troy Howerton officiating. Burial was in Madison Memory Gardens. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet, was in charge of arrangements.
