J B Selly was not the son of Morris Seely and Catherine Huffman-Seely of Dayton, Ohio. The youngest son was Thomas Jefferson Seely. Huffman Bible lists his birth as 19 Aug 1842. Thomas who went by Jefferson left Dayton to work on a Whaling ship the "Ocean Bark" in August of 1866. His Uncle William P Huffman advanced him partial payment from the legacy left to the Seely children by William Huffman. The Ocean Bark left Sag Harbor New York 10 Aug 1866 and was lost at sea. He was declared dead by the Superior Court Montgomery County Ohio as a result of law suits brought by his siblings against William P Hoffman in 1874.
