C, August 20, 1862; promoted first sergeant, November 5, 1863; mustered in as second lieutenant, January 2, 1865; mustered out with company, July 12, 1865, Savannah, Ga. Commissioned second lieutenant, November 19, 1864 with rank from October 17, 1864, vice Ransom A. White promoted

The funeral of J. Howard Asher of this village was held last Saturday afternoon. Rev. J. G. Robinson pastor of the M. E. church and Rev. P. E. Huyler pastor of the Reformed church officiating at the religious ceremony at his late home on Mill street, and Hamilton Sleight Post, G. A. R., of Poughkeepsie conducting an impressive ritual service at the grave in Rhinebeck cemetery. The G. A. R. service was conducted by Commander H. E. Murray and Chaplain Fred C. Norris, a firing squad of Sons of Veterans of H. E. I Murray Camp, commanded by Capt. W. E. Beattie, about twenty-five members of Hamilton Sleight Post and a representative of Armstrong Post of this village. The G. A. R. service was a tribute by the veterans to a worthy comrade.
