Elmer L. Gauthier

Elmer L. Gauthier, age 83, formerly of 2002 14th St., Two Rivers, died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at the Harbor House, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, Holy Redeemer site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William O'Brien with burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of the Two Rivers VFW and American Legion Posts.

Elmer was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Two Rivers, son of the late Louis and Mary Hendzel Gauthier. He attended Valders High School and Washington High School, Two Rivers. Elmer served in the United States Amy Air Force with a tour of duty from May 1942 to March 1946 in the 39th Fighter Squadron, 35th Fighter Group. On Aug. 23. 1952 he married Eunice Matheys at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 1978. Elmer was employed, for many years at Mirro Company, retiring in September 1983. Elmer and his wife owned and operated Gauthier's South Side Liquor Store from 1961 until 1973. He was a member of the VFW Post 1248 in Two Rivers and a lifetime member of the Two Rivers Fish and Game Association.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law: Deborah and Terry Farr, Two Rivers; Laurel and David Meyer, Manitowoc; Natalie Gauthier, Omaha, Neb.; and Cynthia and Dr. Edward Koutnik, Sturgeon Bay; three grandsons and one granddaughter; Jamie Farr, Milwaukee; Jason Farr,Two Rivers; Eddie and Katie Koutnik, Sturgeon Bay; three grandsons and one granddaughter: Jamie Farr, Milwaukee; Jason Farr, Two Rivers; Eddie and Katie Koutnik, Sturgeon Bay; three sisters and two brothers-in-law; Alma and Nelson Tompkins, Phyllis Jebavy, Manitowoc; and Elaine and Roger Wille, Satasota, Fla.; one sister-in-law; Honora Gauthier, Peroria, Ill. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

Elmer was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law: Henry and Viola Gauthier and Roland Gauthier; two infant sisters: Nathalie and Gladys Gauthier.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Klein & Strangel Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers, from 9 until 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2002.
