Son of Alonzo Hoback & Eula Mae Staley.

He Join the Army during WWII from 1946 to 1949 with two years serving in Guam he was elected Council and in 1971 to 1979, became the first elected Mayor of Choctaw serving two terms. He retired from TG&Y as a truck driver for 28 years. Joel is a member of First Baptist Church of Choctaw. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Lavon and George. Joel is survived by his wife; Leanna of 49 years son; Joel Hoback, Jr. and his wife, Janna of Atlanta, GA; daughters: Patricia Stinson and her husband, David of Del City, OK; Elizabeth Ridener and her husband, Chris of OKC; eight grandchildren. ∼OBITUARY

Joel Hulsey Hoback, 76, a resident of Choctaw since 1964, died on August 24, 2004 at his home. He was born on June 23, 1928 in Oklahoma City to Alonzo and Eula Hoback. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Leanne Wood on March 19, 1955 in Westville. He was a retired truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church of Choctaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Lavon Hoback and George Hoback. He is survived by his wife, Leanne; his son, Joel Hulsey Hoback, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughters, Patricia Elaine Stinson of Del City and Elizabeth Ann Ridener of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Choctaw. Interment will be in Sunny Lane Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.
