Opal Brown, 93, of Charles City, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Opal Brown will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Keith Tomlinson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday an hour prior to the service.

Opal Pearl Wobith Brown was born July 17, 1918, at Charles City, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Katcher) Wobith. She received her education from rural Floyd County schools. On March 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to Loren Brown. They lived in the Charles City area all of their lives. For a number of years Opal worked at the Charles City YMCA. She was a member of Chat-a-Bit, Moose Lodge, Heritage Club and the Senior Center. Her interests included crocheting, embroidery and dancing.

Living family members include two sons, Eugene (Carol) Brown of Plainfield and Kenneth Brown of Charles City; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Brad) Reints and Brett (Dawn) Brown; and two great granddaughters, Tiffany Popes and Alyson Reints.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
