David was a son of a Revolutionary War soldier in North Carolina. James B. Garrison, his father, was born in 1747, in Frederickstown, Pennsylvania and died 1841/42 in Greene County, Illinois.
David Garrison, son of James and Esther Anne (Roberts) Garrison, was born in South Carolina, on Mar 17, 1792. He moved with his parents to Warren County, Kentucky, when he was about twelve years of age.
He married Elizabeth Taylor, daughter of John Taylor of Barren County, on Nov 16, 1815, and remained in Kentucky until 1818, at which time he moved to White County, Illinois, where he joined his older brother, James Garrison, Jr.
