Maria Dye married Joseph H. Louthain on the 21 April, 1839 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. She was about 17 years old and Joseph was about 27 years old... They were blessed with eight children, the last one being born about 1859; they are all listed on the 1860 census.
Joseph went to serve Indiana in the Civil War from 1863-1865 and survived. The newspaper articles about Joseph's death in 1880 do not mention his wife or younger children, which might indicate that his wife predeceased him. So Maria Dye Louthain probably passed after the 1860 census and before her husband died in 1880.
I cannot find any trace of her or the younger children after Joseph went away to the Civil War. I do not know what happened to her - if you have any information about her, please use the edit tab and contact me. Thank you.
