April 20, 1921:
In Memory of Mrs. Ed Lovelace.
What is more beautiful than to see a fair young life catching and reflecting the sunshine of heaven in the dew of youth? Such was this life.
She leaves a devoted husband, a baby son, father, mother, brothers and sisters and a host of relatives and friends.
Why the dear Lord took this precious young life is one of heaven's mysteries that we shall never understand.
During her illness all was done that loving hands and kind physicians could do, but she suffered and died, and dear friends, you do not grieve alone.
Bert is an angel and is so much better off, but it is sad that the newly made home was broken up so soon. For just twenty months were they permitted to live together in perfect happiness. Surely God needed one more bright jewel.
We did not realize how we loved our dear friend until she was no more. Hers was the sunniest face I ever knew, and cheerfulness was her main characteristic. We can only say, sleep on, dear Bert, in your newly made grave. Some day there will be a glorious reunion and then we will understand.
