Moses Franklin Beckwith died Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his home in Malvern and the funeral was held this Tuesday afternoon at the Malvern Methodist church, of which the deceased was a member. His death resulted from a gun shot wound which tore off his arm and which occurred Sept 7. Gangrene followed after the amputation of the arm which was made close to the shoulder.

He was born Feb 16, 1843, near Williamsburg, Ohio. He served for 100 days in the Civil War as a member of the 153d Ohio militia. At the close of the war he moved to Holiday, Iowa, and later to Page county. He resided on a farm out southeast of Strahan for some years and in 1898 moved to Malvern. He was married in 1879 to Sarah Elizabeth Rhoads at Shenandoah, who with two children survive him. A son resides at home, and a daughter, Mrs. H.O. Atlely lives at Tabor.
