Edwin J. Nelson, (Photo) 37, veteran of World War II and active in American Veterans of World War II, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, where he had been a patient five days. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Nelson and family resided on Rt. 2, Sheboygan Falls, since September.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Conrad will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Nelson was born March 19, 1928, at Manitowoc, son of Edwin F. and Agatha S. Mrotek Nelson. He attended Manitowoc public schools and married Margaret Schmidt at St. Mary Church Feb. 28, 1950. Mr. Nelson served during the second World War overseas with an Army advisory group. He was elected state commander of the Amvets of Wisconsin at Sturgeon Bay in June of 1954 and had been a past commander of the Charles Karling Post No. 21 of Amvets of Manitowoc as well as serving as senior vice commander on the state level and as adjutant to the former Manitowoc post commander. He had been employed as a salesman for Terp Mobile Home Sales.

Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Linda, Barbara, Trudy and Deborah, and a son, Jeffery, of Rt. 2, Sheboygan Falls; his mother, Mrs. Agatha S. Nelson, of Manitowoc; father Edward F. Nelson, of Townsend, Wis.; a brother, Richard F. Nelson, of Manitowoc; and two sisters, Mrs. Donald Deja, of Two Rivers and Mrs. Melvin Schack, of St. Louis, Mo.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Military rites at graveside will be by Amvets Post No. 99.
