Obituary
William F. Smith, 79, of 720 Robinhood, died at 2:01 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 1995, at Audrain Medical Center, where he had been taken after becoming ill uptown.
Funeral services have been set for 10:30 am Saturday at Arnold Funeral Home, with the Rev Randall Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church in Mexico, where he was a member.
Mr. Smith had lived in Mexico since 1940. He had worked for a number of years at A.P. Green Refractories and in 1945 began working for the Wabash Railroad, retiring from there in 1975.
He was born July 23, 1915 in Randolph County, to Victor Renie and Georgia Pearl Owings Smith. On Aug. 20, 1935, at Moberly, he married Dorothy Lee Roberts, who survives at the home.
He is also survived by one son, Stephen W. Smith of Mexico; two daughters, Mrs. Wiley (Beverly) Talley of Mexico and Mrs. Richard (Linda) Rivers of Nine Mile Point, La.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marshall O. Smith of Wenatchee, Wash.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael L. Smith; and one sister Marguriette P. Berry.
The Smiths had spent the winters in Texas the past 18 years. He was a member of the Little Dixie Camping Club.
