Valerie passed away in Los Gatos with her family by her side. Lifelong resident of Willow Glen in San Jose CA. and was a member of the Willow Glen High School class of 1955. Valerie is preceded by her parents, Leonard A. Dana and Marjorie Carey (Dana Till). Valerie married Herman L. Hayes in 1955, and they enjoyed 51 very loving years together until his passing in 2006. They raised three children, James L. Hayes (Peggy Arreola), Marylou Hayes (Michael Gonzales), and Daniel Hayes (Cookie Fernandez). Valerie worked at the Registrar of Voters in the 70's and for 20 years worked in the Santa Clara County Personnel Department. In her retirement, Valerie loved to attend the many different sporting events of her grandchildren. She is preceded by granddaughter Amanda Perez. She is survived by granddaughter Danelle Hayes and grandsons Joseph Hayes, Gilbert Perez (Jackie Best), James D. Hayes, Will Hayes, and James N. Hayes. Valerie is survived by her sister Holly L. Brooks (Steve), nephew Chance Curtiss (Julie) and great grandchildren Elaina, Elias, Annalycia, Arius, Joziah, and Jazzlene. Valerie's family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at ECH Los Gatos for their compassion and superb care over the last few years. A funeral service was held on Saturday July 21 at 2:00 pm at the Oak Hill Chapel of Roses in San Jose.
