Eleanor Nemetz, age 91, formerly of 912 North 9th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday, December 7, 1993, at the Shady Lane Nursing Home.
Family Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, from the Phipps Memorial Chapels, adjacent to the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William Plank officiating. Cremation will have taken place, with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born May 23, 1902, in Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Frank and Emma Strouf Benishek. She attended schools in Manitowoc and later attended the Milwaukee Normal School for Teachers, later coming to Manitowoc teaching in the Manitowoc Schools as an elementary teacher. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She married Dr. Matt Nemetz on October 15, 1927, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1961.
She is survived by a son and two daughters-in-law, Jerome and Constance Nemetz, Miami, Fla., and Cynthia Nemetz, Jackson, Mich.; two grandchildren, Mark and Christian Nemetz, Miami, Fla.; three step grandchildren, John Kooke, Ann Kooke, and Jane Christiansen, all of Jackson, Mich.; one sister, Emily Delsman, Manitowoc; four sisters-in-law, Ellen Benishek, Manitowoc, Olive Benishek, Manitowoc, Sylvia Nemetz, Manitowoc, and Pauline Benishek, New Salem, N.D. Cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by one son, Allan, six brothers, and one infant sister.
Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. at the chapel until the time of services on Friday. There will be no Thursday visitation at the Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established in her name.
