We are sad to announce that after a brief illness, the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Rev. Donald Chester Lyday at 9:00 AM, 14-July-2012 in Bayfield, Colorado.

Don was born 5-Sept-1931 to Henry Myron and Mary Evelyn Wilson Lyday in Los Angeles, Ca. He attended Los Angeles schools ultimately receiving a BS degree in Zoology from UCLA. After spending two years in the Army he attended McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL.

Don's first calling was to minister to the Presbyterian congregations in Ignacio and Allison, Colorado from 1959 to 1967. Leaving Colorado Don and family went first to Salt Lake City then to Placentia, Ca.

In 1972 Don changed his career to teaching, ultimately retiring from the Fullerton Unified School, Fullerton, Ca, in 1998.

Though leaving Colorado in 1967, Colorado never left Don or his family. With property on both the Animas (Needlton) and Los Pinos rivers he spent many summers and part of the year in his retirement in the area.

In retirement Don also enjoy fishing, his dogs, RVing around the country visiting friends, researching his genealogy and visiting a favorite village several hundred miles down the coast in Mexico.

Don was married to his wife of 58 years, Jayne Elois Black 23-Aug-1953 in Westwood, Los Angeles Co., Los Angeles. This union was blessed with 3 sons and one daughter.

Don is survived by his wife Jayne, sons Steven Paul, San Clemente, Ca, John Theodore, La Mirada, Ca, Daughter Pamela Sue Savage (Doug), Bayfield, Co and son Christopher Scott (Patricia), Brentwood, Ca, four grandchildren, Nicole Selene Paduano O' Sullivan, Keelin Arianne Savage, Brandon William and Adam Scott Lyday, older brother and sister Richard Wilson Lyday, ‘Dick' (Lois), Honolulu, Hi, Janyce Lyday Gerber, Walnut Creek, Ca and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and older brother Henry Myron Lyday, Jr. ‘Hank' (Nancy).

Service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Allison Presbyterian Church, Allison, Co., followed by internment for immediate family at Pine River Cemetery, Bayfield, Co. Service held by Pastor Alan Te Brink
