He was the husband of Sophia Lutz Arnold. During his life, he served as a Second Ward Councilman in Norristown. According to the 1860 Federal Census, he was employed as a nailor. Served as Sergeant of Company I 43rd Pennsylvania Militia (7-6-1863 to 8-13-1863). A member of George Smith Post 79 GAR and Montgomery Lodge No. 57 I.O.O.F. He had 2 sons Howard and Herbert.
