Mrs. Lillie Hayes Allen, 90, widow of James Smith Allen, died Monday, March 31, 2003 at her residence on Woods Drive.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Sierson officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Giles County native was the daughter of the late William Gilmore Hayes and Ellie Tacker Hayes. She was a retired employee of Tennessee Knitting Mills, Lasco and was a private sitter. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, James D. (Janice) Allen of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Mike (Amy) Allen, Phil Allen, Perry (John) Hunt all of Columbia, Sheila (Richard) Greer, Earl Allen Russell both of Nashville, Mark (Susan) Russell of Brentwood, Linda Russell of Plano, Texas; several great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Russell and Earl Russell, granddaughter, Teresa Burt, grandson, James Kenneth Allen, brothers, Gray Hayes, Ed Hayes, William Hayes, Joe Hayes, and sisters, Lola Sisk, Mack Felker, and Lona Arnold.

Pallbearers will be Mike Allen, Phil Allen, Mark Russell, Allen Russell, John Hunt and Richard Greer.
