MAHAFFEY - Funeral services for former Mahaffey resident Alice M. Barrett, 94, a guest of the Curwensville Nursing Home Inc., who died Friday, Oct. 29,1993, at the nursing home will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc., Curwensville.
The Rev. John F. White will officiate.
Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 2-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
Born Oct. 29, 1899, in Curry Run, Mahaffey R.D., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Frances (Wiley) Johnston.
She was retired from Kent Sportswear as a clothing inspector, was United Brethren by faith, was a member of the Mahaffey V.F.W., the Community Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Clearfield County Democratic Club, where she served as past chairman.
She wed Walter Barrett on June 1, 1921, in Ansonville. Mr. Barrett preceded his wife in death on March 22, 1970.
Surviving are nine children, Edward Barrett of Mahaffey; Mrs. Bruno (Eliza) Fontanella of Coalport; Bill Barrett of Cherry Tree; Mrs. Richard (Doris) Schul of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Alvin Barrett of Curwensville; Mrs. Ruth Kunsman of East Lake, Ohio; Mrs. Phyllis Frye of Irvona; Frank Barrett of Hepburnia, Grampian R.D.; and Richard Barrett of Altoona.
Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by a daughter, Dwinell "Dewey" Ponish; three brothers, Bill, Ledill and Victor; and three sisters, Liza, Delia Hipps and Zada Lines.
She was the last member of her generation.
