He and his wife were one of the first homesteaders of Erie, Illinois. Spent his life farming. He moved to Cape May, NJ with his parents, worked 14 years in cotton mill in Mobile, Alabama. Parents moved to Will Co., Illinois. Henry was called there by sudden death of his father. He married Lucy Maria Spicer of Dupage Twp., Lockport, Illinois on June 23, 1852. They had eleven children: Eva Jane, George C., Ella, William Lawton, Charles Henry, Wyman, Sumner Reuben, Frank, Edward Milton, Hattie and Flavin.
