FALL OFF LADDER MAY BE FATAL
Knut Aaberg (sic) Injured Internally and May Not Survive
Injured in a fall from a ladder, while engaged in putting on storm
windows at his home
on So. Eighth Street, Knut Aaberg (sic), a pioneer and aged resident of
the city, is in
serious condition and owing to his advanced age, 88 years physicians are
fearful of the
outcome. Mr. Aaberg is thought to have been internally hurt.
Mr. Aaberg undertook to place the storm windows on his home Saturday and
while at
the work slipped from a tall ladder upon which he was standing and fell
to the ground,
a considerable distance. He was picked up unconscious and remained in
that condition
for nearly twenty-four hours before he could be revived. Though no bones
were broken,
there is the indication of internal injuries and members of the family
have been summoned
to his bedside. Mr. Aaberg has been a resident of the city for a long
term of years.

FALL IS FATAL TO AGED MAN
Knut Aaberg(sic) Fails to Survive Shock Caused By Tumbling From Ladder
Injuries and the terrible shock which he received when he fell a distance
of twelve feet from a ladder last Saturday proved fatal to Knut Aaberg aged
86, who died at his home, 801 Marshal street Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock.
After he was picked up Mr. Aaberg was unconscious for 24 hours but Monday
afternoon he revived and doctors hoped for his recovery. Tuesday a change
occurred and he passed away shortly before noon. Two daughters, Misses
Luella and Clara survive. Mr. Aaberg was engaged in putting on storm
windows
when the accident happened. Against the will of his daughters he
insisted on
doing the work. When working on the second story windows he lost his
balance
and fell to the ground. Mr. Aaberg was one of the first men to serve as
alderman in the city having been elected a member of the first city council
under the administration of Mayor Peter Johnston. Later Mr. Aaberg
served on
the county board and up to the time of his death he was interested in
public
affairs and was a student along these lines. Born in Norway he came to
America
in 1848 settling at Port Washington where he resided for two years and then
removed to this city. He was a ship carpenter by trade and followed this
work
for forty years. The funeral of Mr. Aaberg will be held from the home
thence
to St. Paul's Norwegian Lutheran church at 1:30 Friday.
