GILMER—Services for Bishop Marvin Alfred, 90, Gilmer, are scheduled 2 p.m. Saturday in Croley Funeral Home chapel….

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Mr. Alfred died Thursday [15 Jan 1987] in a Gilmer hospital.

He was born April 23, 1896, in Gregg County. Mr. Alfred was a retired farmer and a World War I veteran. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Gilmer.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Dee Alfred, Gilmer; two sons, Richard Alfred, Tyler, and Hamp Alfred, Houston; one sister, Annie Jones, Longview; six grandchildren, eight great–grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Gipson, Dan Evans, Skeet Abney, Otis Medlin, Russell Alford and Dan Holmes.
