Lene/Lena Olson was a native of Norway, having been born Sept. 27, 1856, and was brought to this country about 1860, her family settling in Houston County, Minnesota, whence in 1862 they came to Chippewa County, Wisconsin. Lene was married in March, 1875, to Nels Nelson.
The children born of this marriage are as follows;
1. Carl Nicolia, b. May 30, 1876, wed Tillie Bjerke and has 2 children, Bernice and Leroy;
2. Karoline M., b. Oct. 14, 1877;
3. Thomas, b. April 20, 1879, now living in Montana;
4. Lydia K., b. Feb. 23, 1881, wed Richard Close, a farmer, had 2 children both of whom are now deceased;
5. Hendri L., b. Oct. 23, 1882, wed Jennie B. Jerke and resides in Minneapolis;
6. Theoline K., b. June 14, 1884, wed Richard F. Hayes, a farmer near Thief River Falls, Minn.;
7. Hilda E., b. Feb. 17, 1886, wed Henry Olson, a farmer of Running Valley, has 3 children, Mildred, Erling and Lyle;
8. Dina/Dena G., b. Feb. 15, 1888, wed to A. B. Wilson of Grant Falls, Mont., has 1 child, Archie;
9. Laura M,., b. Nov. 11, 1889, wed W. J. Brown of Minneapolis;
10. Gustav William, b. Aug. 5, 1891, on the old home farm;
11. Alfred K., b. Aug. 4, 1893, also on the old home farm, wed Caroline Hanson, has 1 child, Leslie Claude;
12. Ruth, b. March 7, 1895, wed Garfield Heyerdahl of Minneapolis;
13. Joseph Gosner, b. Jan. 17, 1897, now in Minneapolis, wed Alice Emmonson;
14. Esther/Esta, b. Dec. 5, 1898, also a resident of Minneapolis, wed Elmer Anderson, has two children, Loraine and Harold.
