Emil E. Ziarnik, 55, of 1327 S 22nd St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon at St. Mary Catholic School Gym where he was supervising a boys’ basketball program.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Landowski officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Ziarnik was born Aug. 31, 1907, at Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Anna Mrotek Ziarnik. He married Evelyn Judrow Oct. 28, 1939, at Green Bay.
He was graduated from old Washington High School, Manitowoc, and Des Moines College in Iowa. He was employed at Dick Bros. Bakery for more than 25 years as a route salesman and was a charter member and past president of St. Mary Young Mens’ Club and of the St. Mary Holy Name Society. He was a former scoutmaster and at the time of his death was institutional representative of Boy Scout Troup 11 of St. Mary School. He was a member of the Teamsters Union of Manitowoc, Local 619, and a member of the 25-Year Club at Dick Bros. Bakery. Mr. Ziarnik was a veteran of World War II and served in the field artillery as a Technician-5 overseas in both France and Germany.
Among survivors are his wife; a son, David, and a daughter, Emlyn Anna, at home; a brother, Paul, of Manitowoc; five sisters, Mrs. Hugo LaFond, of Two Rivers, Mrs. Richard Kuschel, of Milwaukee, Mrs. Al Blazel and Mrs. Henry Janquart, of Green Bay and Mrs. Ted Komosa, of Manitowoc.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by the Holy Name Society, Young Men's Club and the parish and friends.
