Born on the family farm the daughter of Walter and Evelyn Benson Appleby. She was a member of the Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church. She and Erlon graduated from the Woodstock Church School together, now known as Forestdale Christian School. This is where she met and married the love of her life, Erlon Hadley, on Sept 4, 1955. Maude Alice was a homemaker as well as an Independent Distributor for Shaklee Products for over 30 years. She was also a bookkeeper for Hadley's, the family business. Maude Alice had the gift of service. She volunteered her time, money and car wherever she was needed. Her true passion was the Woodstock Church Food Pantry, which she founded. She spent countless hours preparing and delivering food boxes, weighing half as much as her 92 lbs., throughout the community. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Erlon Hadley of South Woodstock; three sons, Lonnie Hadley of South Woodstock, Keith Hadley and wife Julie of South Woodstock and Dale Hadley of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Cleo Ryerson of South Woodstock and Betty Estabrook and husband Ray of Lisbon; a brother, Jo Pete Appleby of South Woodstock; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Maude Alice was predeceased by her sister, Helen June Heath in 1972.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26 at 4 p.m. at
The Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church with interment to
follow at South Woodstock Cemetery. Family and friends may attend a time of visitation on Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of
Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Andrews Chapel, 64 Andrews Rd., Bryant Pond.
