Madeline Ellsworth, the eldest of seven children, was born March 15, 1920 to the late Christopher Ellsworth and Adeline (Yacks) Ellsworth in Maple Ridge Township. She was married to Louis Szymanski on April 27, 1937 at St. Anne Catholic Church by Fr. Bouchard. Louis preceded her in death on April 15, 1981.
She lived in Maple Ridge Township, Bay City, and then moved to her present address in 1952. A dedicated member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Madeline was a member of the Altar Society. Additionally, she was a member of the "In Between Gals" that met monthly, an Avon representative for four years, an election worker for 30 years and was active in the Senior Citizens. She loved her family foremost, enjoyed bird watching, especially her faithful bluebird, watching the Detroit Tigers on TV, gardening and sharing her produce with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be missed by all.
Surviving were 5 children, Robert of Ossineke, Janet Dehring of Alpena, Carol (Lyle) Beatty of Alpena, Duane (Francie) of East Tawas, and Teresa of Lansing; her sister, Gayle Jackson of Alpena; grandchildren, Lori (Dan) Dehring, Tamyra (Craig) Brayko, Susan (Rick) Page, Deborah Hallahan, David (Lisa) Beatty, Tricia Szymanski, and Trevor Szymanski. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Tara, Brent, Joshua, Caleb, and Isaiah Dehring, Matthew and Michael Dehring, Kendra Witowich, Jared Baker, Elizabeth and James Hallahan, Andrew, Sam, and Joshua Beatty, many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Richard (Sally) Kosloski, as well as special friends, Lynette, Judy, Diane, Jackie, Florence, Pat, and many more.
Madeline was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Ellsworth; sisters, Joyce Wyman, Rosalie Pilarski, Dorothy Graham, Marylou Kosloski; and sons-in-law, Gerald Fussey Jr. and Louis Dehring.
