Son of John Agnew and Miss Byrnes.


He is said to have mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry on 29 Jul 1862, being credited to the quota of Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts.


On 2 Aug 1862 in the "Webster Times," Peter Agnew was mentioned as a new recruit.


However, there is _no further service record_ for him.

There is no record of him ever joining the regiment.

His wife's later application for a widow's pension was unsuccessful.


Peter Agnew married Marcella Leonard, daughter of Patrick and Bridget (McDonald) Leonard.


They had no children and his widow died on 23 Feb 1898 at Webster, Massachusetts.


He died of cancer.
