Leon D. Smongeski, 51, of 3328 Adams St., Two Rivers, audit supervisor in the
Industrial Engineering Dept. of the Hamilton Mfg. Co., died unexpectedly of a
heart attack en route to Two Rivers Municipal Hospital early Thursday.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels,
Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Rev. Paul
Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Smongeski was born June 11, 1918, at Two Rivers, a son of the late Joseph and
Eva Borusky Smongeski. He graduated from Washington High School in 1935, after
which he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Service with the Air
Force in the European theater from 1941 to 1946 interrupted continuance of his
education until 1951 when he graduated from the state university with a degree in
economics.
He joined the Hamilton Mfg. Co. in 1951 and in 1952 was promoted to employment
manager. For the past two years he has been audit supervisor in the Industrial
Engineering Dept. A past president of Hamilton Management Club, he was active in
recreational activities with the firm.
Besides his wife, the former Betty Ebel, whom he married at Two Rivers, Nov. 24,
1951, he leaves a daughter, a son (Survivors omitted for privacy.); four sisters,
Mrs. Al Brusky of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Milton Breivogel of Beverly Hills, Calif.,
Mrs. Clarence Hart of Racine and Mrs. Richard C. Horn of Two Rivers, and two
brothers, Joseph of Boston, Mass, and Paul of Marion, Ohio. A sister preceded him
in death.
Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 4 p.m. Friday where memorial services
will be at 8 p.m.
