Mrs. Mae Kopetsky, 70, of 34th St. and Mishicot Rd., widow of Joseph Kopetsky,
longtime executive of the Lauerman mercantile firm at Marinette and a member
of a prominent early Two Rivers family, died shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday
at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital where she had been a patient since Sunday
night. Mrs. Kopetsky had been in recent months making her home at the Schmitt
family residence at 1720 W. Park St., Two Rivers.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels,
Two Rivers, and at 11 a.m. with a solemn requiem high Mass at St. Luke Catholic
Church. A number of Mr. Kopetsky's nephews in the clergy will participate in the
Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mrs. Kopetsky, nee Mae Schmitt, was born Nov. 4, 1891 , at Two Rivers, daughter
of the late John and Anna Koch Schmitt. She attended St. Luke Parochial School
and later was employed as saleslady at the old Two Rivers Mercantile Co. store,
Two Rivers, now the Montgomery Ward establishment. She was married April 28, 1920,
at Two Rivers, to Joseph Kopetsky, a native of the Town of Two Creeks who was an
early manager of the grocery department of the Two Rivers Mercantile Co. store.
Soon after the marriage the couple moved to Petoskey, Mich., where her husband
took over the operation of a mercantile firm. A year later the family moved to
Sheboygan where Kopetsky became a department manager at the H. C. Prange store.
In 1925 the family moved to Marinette where her husband died in 1955. She returned
to Two Rivers a short while later.
Mrs. Kopetsky was active in church and civic organizations at Marinette and was a
director of the Marinette Deanery. Also, she was past president of the Marinette
Catholic Women's Club, a past president of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
Altar Society of Marinette, and was a __ in activities of the Marinette Girl Scout
Council for many years. At Two Rivers she was a member of the Altar Society of Holy
Redeemer Church.
Mrs. Kopetsky leaves two daughters, Miss Dorothy, of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Henry
Otten, of Sheboygan, a sister, Mrs. Catherine Bartel, of Two Rivers; four brothers,
Joseph, of Green Bay, Charles, of Algoma and John and Edward Schmitt of Two Rivers
and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will
be recited at 7 p.m.

The marriage of Miss Mae Schmitt, a popular young lady of this city, daughter
of Mrs. John Schmitt of West Park Street to Jos. Kopetsky of Pekosky, Mich.,
was solemnized Wednesday morning at St. Luke's. The ceremony uniting the pair
was witnessed by many friends and relatives. The groom is employed as manager
of the dry goods department in Fachman's Department Store at Pekosky where the
couple will reside after they return from an extensive wedding trip east. The
Reporter extends hearty congratulations and well wishes.
