BROWNVILLE JUNCTION "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12. Our mother, Juanita G. Blake, went peacefully to be with the Lord Sept. 30, 2007, surrounded by her children and grandchildren at her home. She was born July 29, 1934, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Leon Edward Ward and Gladys Rebecca Morris. She led a very fulfilling life from her days on the farm in Becket, Mass., where she grew up with her sister, Esther. She moved to Maine in 1963, where she raised her three children. Juanita was known to many as Ma Blake. She worked for Dexter Shoe Co., as a hand lacer for many years, starting in the Milo Town Hall. She then went to work for Guilford Industries as a mender. After her retirement, she went to work as a receptionist for the Maine Veterans' Home, Bangor. Juanita was very devoted to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed scapbooking, genealogy, sewing and reading. Ma is survived by her three children, Stephen E. Meldon and wife, Anne, of Brewer, Tommy M. Blake and wife, Debbie; a daughter, Nicki L. McCue and husband, Kevin, all of Brownville Junction; four grandchildren, who knew her as Nana, Jessie Lynn Blake and companion, Tony Fowles, Morgan Marie Morrison and her companion, Brandon Johnston, all of Brownville, Rachel Jean Blake and Blake Edwin Charles Morrison, both of Brownville Junction; her great-granddaughter, Nana's special little girl, Sydney May Fowles; four sisters, Leta Young of Connecticut; her loving and special sister, Esther Strout of Hindsdale, Mass., Virginia Miodowski of West Springfield, Mass., and Pauline Pelletier of Virginia; and a brother, Nevitt Morris of Maryland. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who will hold their Auntie Nita in their hearts forever, including, Barbara, Donna, Louis, Michael, Connie, Lynn, Lori, Joanne, Carol and Susie. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Edwin Charles Blake. She will be sadly missed by her cats, Patches and Bootsie; her bird, Charlie; and her great-granddog, Buddy. God looked around his garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering and he knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb so he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered, " Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone for part of us went with you, the day God took you home. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in the family lot at Pinetree Cemetery, Brownville Junction, with the Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating. After the service friends and family are invited to the family home, 10 Henderson St., Brownville Junction, to share fellowship and memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Health and Counseling Hospice, 14 Summer St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426 or to a local animal shelter.
