RALEIGH - Charles Brantley Aycock, 85, of 3629 Alamance Drive, died Monday, February 19, 2001.

Born in Warsaw, N.C., July 18, 1915, son of William Benjamin Aycock and Lucille Best Aycock and grandson of North Carolina Governor Charles B. Aycock, he graduated from N.C. State University where he was captain of the 1937 basketball team. He served in the US Navy W. W. II, in the Atlantic and Pacific Treaters, was a member of Christ Church, the Society of Cincinnati and other organizations and was an avid gardener.
Surviving is his wife, Marian McClenaghan Aycock; a brother William B. Aycock and his wife Jane, of Raleigh; a sister, Lucille A. McKee and her husband, James, of Raleigh and four nieces.

Mr. Aycock was manager of North Carolina Fire Insurance Rating Bureau for many years.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery.
